Despite working much more than forty hours a week, and sometimes at multiple jobs, I can proudly say I’ve still kept things going here on the blog. And I even wrote a book. Sleep? Who actually needs sleep? *scoffs*
I’m an herbalist on a mission. If you haven’t seen the school page for Common Branch, go check it out if you have the time. We officially have a classroom of our own now (yes, it’s a barn, but it’s gonna be really stinkin’ cute when I’m done with it), and plenty of garden space. I've also potentially located a place to host our monthly free clinics. I’d love to see the school and clinic really dig in and get established over the next year, and with that in mind I’m just about to finish up on the first part of my Herbal Medic training through the Human Path. It's really helped me further develop the vision I have for the school and also make sure I have the skills in place to make it happen.
Still, I’m getting to the point where I do need more sleep, and also for the blog to at least start supporting the basic costs of maintaining it. So, I decided it was time for a big change.
We’re Going Reader-Supported!
Yup! That’s right. Most of my articles now are going to be on our new Supporter Community blog feed. It doesn’t cost much to be a supporter- only $1 a month. You’ll be able to check out the previews on the regular feed in case you are curious, and once or twice a month I will still contribute a public article here for everyone to enjoy.
Not only will supporters have more articles to read, they will also have opportunities to win free subscriptions, classes, books, and other herbal goodies.
Plus, I’ll be publishing a quarterly gazette called The Leaflet. You’ll be able to buy the plain typed edition on Amazon at the end of the year, or you can read it for FREE every quarter if you pledge as little as $1 a month to support what I do here on the blog. If you pledge $6 a month I’ll even send you an artsy, awesome, print copy in the mail (old fashioned, I know- right?).
How to Join In
If you are interested in becoming a supporter, you can find more information on our Patreon page. Patreon is sort of like an ongoing Kickstarter for bloggers and artists, and I think it’s going to be a really great resource for everybody- definitely a win-win set up.
To kick things off, I’m writing a new post for supporters every day for the month of September. So make a cup of your favorite herbal tea, settle in, and get ready to read!
Best of health always,
P.S. Tomorrow's post (for supporters only!) is all about choosing which herbs to keep in your home apothecary: Choosing the Right Herbs to Keep on Hand. Thursday's post will be 25 Herbs for the Prepared Home. I hope you'll join us!
